Last day of Camp

Today, is my last day of camp. : (  I  love all that this camp has taught me. I especially want to thank the instructors for making this the best week of my life and this summer has turned out amazing.  I will be presenting my Pico Cricket.  It is really cool. I did have to make some adjustments. But it did come out really cool. I will talk tonight about how the presentation went. I am hoping I will have enough time to say this. "Today I am going to show you my pico cricket. It is a small robot compsed of a  brain, cords and input or output devices.  I call in "The Strength Tester". Allissa helped me build it. So first, I will push the button that is an input device. and my output devices will let out sound, lights, and show your strength all the way to 100. It won't decide a score until it has counted multiple times." I know it is short, but I will add to it once I get there.

Google Sketch up

Today, is the last day of camp before programming presentations. We worked on Google Sketch Up. Fist, we worked on a dog house then a cat perch.  I only finished the dog house. Then came the hard part. We had to build a model of our house. I never finished. It was to hard. But, it was very fun. talk to you guys who are reading tomorrow I have got to go.

Karate

I am finally done at karate. For tonight... We didn't spar. But I did work on my kicks. Round kicks to be exact. We also worked on back kicks. I wanted to knock over a bag; I almost did, "almost" is the key word here. We also did stretches. I have found out that I hate hate the splits. Hmm I wonder if I can make the girls  at camp do these stretches.  That would be fun to watch them do L.O.L, and J.K. See Y'all tomorrow.

Star Logo

I am back! Today we did one of my favorite types of programming but this one was made by a different company. It is like Story Telling Alice. But it is made by M.I.T. Our whole class made one where there was a mountain or two, and you had to get the giraffes on top of it because there was a flood. Then we all added our own twist to them. We all got a page of challenges to help us with our little "twists". First we added two extra mountains to get extra points when a giraffe was on them. Check I did it. Then, we added a new breed of animals; mine was a wolf, check that I changed blue. Next, I made more characters called agents I added 35 more of them to my story. Finally, with some help, I had 15 of my agents go to the top of my highest mountain to get extra points. Check to all of those. Here I go to the harder challenges.(I finished all of them) One of them was to graph  the number of wolves on my mountain. The next one was my idea for the whole group. So, if any of my wolves were drowning, it would die. BAM! A new one was born on the mountain top increasing  my score. It is so cool.
Talk to Y'all tonight from karate to inform you on my sparring with Dad. Wish me luck. : )

Paper Circuits

Today, was my 7th day of camp at N.M.S.U. for Y.W.I.C. It was really fun. You had to use copper tape and make circuits, that lit up little lead light bulbs. My first  project by myself didn't work out to well. So Linday helped me and it came out really good. It was a picture of my dog and her eyes lit up. Then, after the circuits were taped to the picture I made a picture frame for my little dog. Then it was done. Finally, Im here blogging an having so much fun this week. Talk to Y'all tomorrow!

My Weekend

I am back, for today, and I ma back to tell about my weekend like a said earlier. My weekend  was actually pretty fun, but sad at the same time. This weekend was the 8th and 9th of June.
So first, on Friday I went to my Grandma's house to work on getting it rented. The sad thing was it reminded me of her, and she passed away in '09. She was my best friend when I was younger, and I told all of my secrets to her. But I know she i sin a better place now so I'm not to sad anymore. I l <3 you Mema!
Then on Friday night I got burgers for dinner; I had been craving them for quite a while. They had cheddar, and american cheese on them. On the top I put fried to a crisp bacon, and ketchup. Then, late at night I got invited to my friends Kiera's house. The other Abey was their to.Then we went to sleep we made Kiera an Abbi/Abey sandwich. We stayed up all night watching YouTube videos. My favorite was Sylvester the talking cat. Here is the link. For breakfast we ate oatmeal. Then I went home, and worked on Mema's house again. After working for a while we went home and changed  for a birthday party, and ate lunch. The party was at a pool at a clubhouse. Then I went home, and changed into P.J's. I also went, and looked at  my brother's welding on his tailgate that he made. Lastly, my Mom, Dad, and I watched Transformers. That was my amazing weekend. Thanks for listening. I love blogging!

PicoCrickets

Today at camp we worked with PicoCrickets. They are like Lego Mindstorms but smaller. Me and Allissa made a Strength Tester. Once you press the button the light flashes, the speaker flashes, and the display board counts up to 100 percent of strength. They are so much fun! My favorite part of PicoCrickets is the programming. It is so cool to say that you made that do what it does. I sure do hope that my Mom will let me download the programmer to my laptop. Or better yet I wish I could get my own. I also learned how to change the font on Gutsy Girls Social Network. I will talk to Y'all tonight about my weekend it was so fun and exciting. I would also like to tell my sister Sheila that I hope she likes my blog and camp stories at Y.W.I.C.

H.T.M.L.

Hi, again. Today was my 4th day at camp. It was the best day yet! We worked on H.T.M.L programming. Where we got to work on making our own web pages. It was so cool. The phrases used are kind of weird. So it is hard to remember but an awesome challenge. I love challenges. I can't wait to finish up my site, and do more with Design Blocks at my house this weekend. I also can't wait for Monday we get donuts, and get to go on Gutsy Girls Social Networking. This was the best week ever. I love all the cool things we have done. If you would like to see my new page online it should be done next week. Get more info to you later. I will also send y'all the link when it is up and running. So here is to Scratch, Gutsy Girls, Design Blocks, Origami, and Blogging. It has made my week. I would also to say thanks again to my teachers; Linday, Suzi, Noor, and Jen for the week, and thanks to Kay for a great sleepover.

Best Day of Them All!! : )

I am back at Y.W.I.C. Today we used Design Blocks. It is a website used for programming pictures and art work. I made 4 pieces of work. My favorite was one where I had a group of circles create a flower, I used clear circles, and filled in circles. But if they were a certain size the would form the letters Y.W.I.C. Then, the letters would become the outer parts of the flower. Overall another great day. : )

Scratch and Mckaela

Hey, today I didn't go to camp. I was supposed to go on Scratch. But I have already played with scratch with Mrs. Cathie Leslie so it was okay. She was my 5th and 4th grade computer teacher.(She is the one who got me into programming.)  On Scratch, last school year, I made a small video about a shark chasing a starfish, and you had to use your mouse to move the starfish. I also made one where a dog chased a cat, and then the cat chased a mouse. I changed the the costumes on each of the the characters so they looked like their whole body was moving. It is a really cool 2-D programming website. Tomorrow I hope I can make a really cool movie or video.

What I did do today was visit with my friend, Mckaela, who I mentioned in my first blog, who will be leaving next week on a trip. Then once she gets back, she will be at soccer for most of the time, so I decided to visit her today. While I was there we painted toes, crimped our hair, played truth or dare, and went to V.B.S.( Vacation Bible School ), and Subway. I love going to her house. We also watched Men in Black 3.

Now, here comes the part of my blog where I tell you more about myself. Today, at karate I finally got to spar. It was really fun but kind of hurt my chest. we worked on defending round kicks and backing away. Then I went with my Dad, and we worked on holds like a tackling hold. That was so cool. I go to Maximum Martial Arts Center in Las Cruces.  Overall it was a really great day. : )

Second Day of Y.W.I.C

Today was my second day of camp. It was pretty fun. We made origami. I made two peacocks. I tried to make a rhino but it didn't work. Then we played a game to work on team work. To play we used a blanket and a group. The whole group had to stand on it with out hitting the ground. Then, if we did it we did it, got our blanket folded in half. Afterwards we worked more on our origami and it got put on a little display. It was a safari themed presentation. Now I am here blogging and then I will take a survey and go home. This afternoon me and my friend Mckaela are going to hang out and visit. thank you teachers for another amazing day!

Me and Y.W.I.C.

                                                                  Hey Y'All
Photo: This group of young ladies from East Picacho Elementary got together and decided to raise some funds for their community's animals in need. They named their fund raiser, "Pay for Paws," and were able to bring in $317.74 and a box full of canned food, toys, and other goodies. These are some awesome kids! Thank you so much!             This is Abigail. I'm here to tell you all about my amazing day today. First of all, it is my first day here ever at Y.W.I.C. and I just got my sparring gear in karate which means that I can actually fight people. I am a white belt w/ a yellow stipe. Now let me tell you about myself. I am a lot about the south. My NFL team is New Orleans Saints, and my favorite food is fried chicken "n" waffles. My room is decorated in Mardi Gras items (a Louisiana holiday). I have 2 bros, and 1 sis. I also love animals; I have 2 dogs (Bammbamm, and Pebbles), 1 rabbit (Butterscotch), 1 cat (Seamus), and 1 foster kitty (Gray Baby). My favorite colors are purple and aqua blue. My B.F.F. is Mckaela. Some of my other friends are Aaliyah, Lisa, Cellest, and Alyson. One of my favorite accomplishments is when; we all started a group at our school called Pay for Paws. We raised $317.74 for the Animal Shelter of Mesilla Valley. Next year we plan to spread this program around all of the middle schools of Las Cruces. Now enough about me, lets talk about Y.W.I.C.
This is an apsolutely amazing oppurtunity for all middle school girls. Today we learned how to blog obviously! One of my most favorite parts about the day was playing Jeopardy, some of the subjects were; looping, objects, and properties, or Google trivia. This was such a fun amazing challenge. I love being around girls my age in computing. One of my favorite people there are Susi. She has the coolest accent ever, and she is the best programmer ever.  So to all of you young ladies out there follow your dreams. I did and it has lead on to awesome things. And you all should try programming. It is the best. Thank you to all the people who have helped me learn on this journey Y'All rock!!!!
